ASA CUNNIFF - CHAIRMAN

Asa Cunniff

Born in Sweden many years ago and travelled the world to end up in England. My teenage dream was to become a charted accountant: It did not happen. Instead, I am now a Property manager and Charity worker. Married with 3 wonderful sons and Husband.

Life has given me a lot and as we all read in the newspapers, others are not so lucky. There is a huge unfairness in our society and we all need to work for change. Time to Shine will aim to improve the environment for young people growing up today.

ROZ JONES - TRUSTEE

Roz Jones

My first inspiration was my Grandfather, a Lincolnshire boat builder, who managed to woo and win my Grandmother from the arms of a richer, better-educated man, who had all life’s advantages. Granddad was a born entrepreneur and he and my Gran ran many businesses in their lives. My father’s first job was dismantling Nissan huts for 10/- (50p) each, for my Granddad.

I have been raised to believe that we should do our best and try to achieve our best and I try to share this with my two teenage sons. I feel that DIY, for careers, skills, recognition or even income, has become a dirty word and I aim to motivate everyone I meet, to believe in themselves and their ability to get to where they want to be, through their own efforts. Life does not come in a box, you have to create it and most definitely have lots of fun along the way!

My career background is 30-odd years in Training, Sales and Business Mentoring. My first training job was working with 16 year old’s, who had been expelled from school and helping them learn to negotiate the world of work, with all its un-written rules on speech, behaviour, dress, action/initiative and satisfaction/rewards. I hope that I can share some of this experience to help motivate my fellow fundraisers, achieve a healthy fund pot, to offer to our chosen projects.

NICHOLE OWENS - Mentor

Nichole Owens

Nichole is a mentor working with young people on the e2e course in Maidenhead. Nichole has successfully mentored 2 youths over a period of 7 months and is ready for her next assignment. Nichole uses her coaching and facilitation skills to work with her mentees, also drawing on her commercial background when it comes to giving workplace advice.

Nichole believes if you want to see change in your community then you need to take positive action. Time2Shine has given her that opportunity to get involved at the front line. Mentoring youths is challenging as you need to keep them interested, this has kept Nichole on her toes and she feels she has got just as much out of the mentoring experience as her mentees.
